Calories Needed Per Day

What Is The Formula For Calculating My Calories Needed Per Day?

There is a formula for the calculation of our calories needed per day, and every professional uses it in order to help you reach your ideal weight and heart health goals. From doctors to nutritionists to dieticians to the scientific community, getting the count right is an important piece of work, and you are the only one who can actually make it happen. This might seem a tiny bit complicated at first, but once you have mastered the four steps and ways of logic below, your weight loss, gain, or maintenance goals should be well within your grasp.

Step 1-  Active adult males should multiply their total body weight by 15. Active females should multiply their total body weight by 12. Those adult males who aren’t as active as they should, or hope to, be will want to multiply their total body weight by 13, while females suffering the same conditions will want to multiply their total body weight by 10. It is important that you do not cheat here, for this information is for your use only, and you would only be cheating yourself out of a successful end result. This number will be the total number of calories that your body needs per day to maintain your current weight.

Step 2-  Whichever group you fall under, you will now need to calculate your total fat calories needed per day in order to maintain your current body weight. Do this by multiplying the number from above by .30. This will determine 30% of your calories, or the amount of your daily allowance which should be derived from fats.

Step3-  Your fat grams will need to be your next step in determining your calories needed per day, as fat grams are often much easier to count than  are fat calories. Do this by dividing your 30% number from above by 9. Whatever this total is will determine the amount of fat grams you should consume per day.

Step 4-  If you need to determine the calories needed per day in order to lose weight, here is your basic formula. All of the processes remain the same, but you will need to subtract 500 from your first total, or the largest one that we started with. Recalculating everything else in exactly the same way, this formula will allow you to lose an average of 1 pound per week.

This may not seem like a very fast way of losing weight, but we must remember that the slower it comes off, the longer it will stay off. Staying well hydrating and increasing your activity level will also help considerably, and it is not unthinkable that you could lose closer to two pounds per week of actual body fat.
